Following the success of open-source software, open-source hardware is getting momentum across research and industry. Based on the open RISC-V instruction set, the PULP team at ETH Zürich and the university of Bologna creates processor cores and low-power processing architectures. Among these building blocks is the ARIANE application core. In this talk, we will present how a PhD project is turning into one of the open-source industrial-grade building blocks delivered by the OpenHW Group and adopted by Thales.
