SIDO - OSXP 2021

In the maritime sector, in particular, (pleasure craft or merchant vessels) the more a modern on-board Linux system becomes connected, the greater the number of cyber threats it needs to deal with. The variable quality of the link connecting it to the cloud also makes reliable uploading of data flows from its sensors to land more difficult. After clarifying the specific constraints of the maritime sector, this presentation will provide details of the architecture put in place for the secure collection of data from several hundred sensors on connected ships, via a variable link. The presentation will specifically explain the implementation of the framework of redpesk/AGL micro-services, its security model (SMACK and SELinux) and how we have combined it with RedisTimeSeries and OpenID Connect. The presentation will conclude by describing how this software architecture can be used by the open source community to securely upload any data from an on-board sensor to the cloud.
